Exploring Gunung Liang East & West

July, 14 2013

This is my second time joining KL Hiking Meetup group after Gunung Rajah event. The trail is continuous climb and need to ascent at least 1733 meter over 10 KM.  They have set the turn around time at 1:00 p.m. (you got to U-turn back if you are still not reaching the summit yet). Physical fitness, mental strength and time management are the main prerequsition for this hike.

First Stage - Jungle Walk

Second Stage - Up, Up, Up (Trail like Gunung Nuang from Camp Lolo to Camp Pacat)
0802   Crossing river
1013   Reached Camp 7-E (7-11)

Final Stage - All the way up and climb (Trail like Gunung Nuang from Camp Pacat to False Peak)
1039   Reached Boulder
1205   Reached Summit (West)
1210   Reached Summit (East)

  2. Bro, I notice you have climbed G.Berembun as well. Is this trail very much different from Berembun?

    1. G.Liang is tougher with more elevation gain. The trail condition is narrow with many false peak near summit. I would rate it tougher than G. Nuang.

  5. Is it a must to have a guide? Or can hike it without a guide? I want to camp overnight as well.

    1. Guide is not compulsorily but good to engage someone with experience and know the trail well. Big campsite in Camp 7-11
