Exploring Gunung Bujang Melaka

September, 13-14 2014

Gunung Bujang Melaka (GBM) is located in Kampar with the high of 1233 meter A.S.L which you can see along North South Highway nearby Lata Kinjang Waterfall. The mountain is located on your left if you are driving towards to Ipoh direction.

Although day hike is possible but we prefer a relax trip this round by doing 2D1N camping trip. Starting from waterfall to Orang Asli Statement the trail is a bit misleading, too many alternate trails along the way. We just follow the piping trail which lead us to the Orang Asli Statement.  From there onwards, a clear trail would lead us to 1st and 2nd campsite. After setting up our tents direct proceed to the summit.

Day 1

10:50  Start Hiking
11:17  Rest in Orang Asli Settlement for 20 minutes
12:20  Reached first campsite and rest for 15 minutes
13:00  Lunch break for one hour near the stream
14:50  Reached 2nd campsite
16:15  Continue hike to summit
17:08  Reached Summit of Gunung Bujang Melaka
18:19  Back to campsite and enjoy our happy hour

Day 2

11:15  Start descent from 2nd campsite
12:30  Reached 1st campsite
13:10  Reached Orang Asli Settlement
13:35  Continue
13:55  Reached Car Park

River Crossing and follow the piping trail

  2. Hi mcHiker,

May I know where the trailhead is? From the car park, should I go straight and cross the river on my right?

    1. HI King Ting,

Go straight from 1st car park (with Pondok picture No. 2) you will reach the 2nd car park. Go further up until you see the piping on your right with a small stream (Picture No. 4 & 5).

    1. Hi Nelson,

Stage One from Car park to Orang Asli settlement with long of junctions, follow the piping as pictures above. I don't have any contact on local guide for day hike. Maybe you could search around on others blog.

Coach is not reachable to car park, you might need to walk on tar road about 1~2 KM if not mistaken.

  5. Hi mcHiker,

I'm interested to hike here. Are the trials mostly unmarked and we will be easily lost here so that we need a mountain guide to hike here?

    Thanks.

  10. Is it possible to build fires for cooking at each campsite?

  11. bujang melaka is a forest reserve. accordingly, a permit is required for hiking, but, who's checking right? if anybody wants to get a permit, the office is at batu gajah, jabatan perhutanan for kinta area. the cost is RM10 per pax, and another RM20 per group.
