Exploring Hutan Lipur Gallah (Bukit Galla)

May, 1, 2012

Bukit Galla is one of my MUST hike mountain on my hiking list, I have been spending a lot of time on internet to find the trail for this mountain but not much information on it.  The reason why this mountain under my MUST hike list is because I pass by this mountain twice almost everyday during the journey to my office .  After a few months of hiking activity, I noticed that different group of people would hike difference type of trail. Mountain like Bukit Galla is more suitable for group of people running "Hash". (Hike in deep mountain and open they own trail)

It was my pleasure  that I managed to joined this group called "Seremban Hash House Harriers & Harriettes (H4)" for a trip to Bukit Galla.  This was my first time joining the Hash group and I know that they would not spending much time on summit so I just ensure I have enought water and basic hiking tools with me, other things like cooking tools was not required.

We met up at Labu 8 miles village (Jalan Labu) at 15:00, followed my uncle's car to the base and we parked the car on the open space. 15 of us started the journey at 15:24 and one more group of people was started 30 minutes later then us as they have hiked this mountain number of times. The condtion of the trail was really muddy and slippery.

After one hour 25 minutes of hiked, the leader noticed that there were no more marking on the trail (Normally they will do marking  one or two days before the group hike the mountain).  We have no choice to U-turned back to the base and I was a bit disappointed as unable to reach to the summit. After 45 minutes later we met the group that start later then us and they were half way decent from the summit. They told us that we was followed with the wrong making and went into the other mountain (Which was really close to Nilai).  The summit was just 20 minutes from the meeting point and follow other trail. Some of them decided not to continue to the summit and just follow the trail back to  the base as that time was already 17:30. Eight of  us decided to continue hiked for 30 minutes to the summit.  We rest at summit less then 10 minutes, taken some photos and rushed back to the base camp reached at 1924.

This was my first experience running hash and I really enjoyed it.

  1. Hi bro. Can I know the exact location of the starting point when you start your climbing journey?

  2. Just after Labu KTM Station, the left to the Palm Oil esttate. You will cross a tunner (Top would be North/South Highway), turn left again and you can park you car in the Indian temple. The start point would on your left if you are facing the temple.

    Hope this would help!

    1. After the tunnel you shall follow straight instead of turn right into the Kampung area. After about 30 seconds of plantation road turn left at the junction and you would see the temple on your right.

For your information. Kampung Tekir trail has been closed few months ago.
