Exploring Gunung Gap and Gunung Ulu Semangkok

May, 12 2012

Many hikers like me would have they own mountain checklist to keep track number of mountains has been conquered, this trip we could concuered two mountains in one trail that made me more interested on it. There were not much information I could find from from the internet sharing about the trek condition and I was wondering why it require approxiamately 3 hours to complete 3KM journey.

We started the journey at footprint 800 meters from the peak and there were no signboard where to start. We gone through the bamboo jungle which took up some of the energy as no many people hike the trek and it was very slippery.  After 20 minutes,  the trek condittion getting better and it look like in tropical rain forest.

We reached the Gunung Gap Summit within our time frame (50 minutes), We took a rest for a while and took some pictures.  A very good view from the summit to see Genting Highland and Fraser Hill.  The trek to Gunung Ulu Semangkok was start descend and follow by roller coaster ride, distance about 2 KM and it takes about 2 hours.  Take note after passed by a false peak there was a small descend trail to the right for water source, you got to keep on the left trail.  Two of our members was lost their way for 3 hours (Gone back to the Gunung Ulu Semangkok summit direction during descend from the summit)

Becareful of bee, I was being stings by the 30bees on this trip.

    1. Hi,

Gunung Semangkok (The highest mountain in Selangor State), one of the 'MUST GO' mountain in my list but no change to hike it yet.

Continue hike from Twin Peak, another approx. 2 hours reach Sungai Merah. All the way up for approx. 3.5 hours reach Summit. (This is not my timing / pace). I may need long time.

A long day hike mountain which I rate it difficult then Liang, Rajah.
