Gunung Ledang - Tangkak, Johor

The Trek

  • Gunung Ledang   : 4186 feet ( 1276 meter) N2.37339 E102.60801
  • Location : Tangkak  (Johor)
  • Usually it takes 5 to 6 hours
  • Distance : about 5.8 KM

Getting there

  • From North-South highway toward Johor
  • Exit Tangkak Toll
  • Turn right onto Route 23 (Jalan Muar) toward Tangkak town
  • Go straight onto Jalan Payamas
  • Keep right onto Route 23 toward Sagil heading to Jemantah town
  • Turn left after few KM from Sagil town when you see the sideboard of “Gunung Ledang Resort”

Exploring Gunung Ledang

Gunung Ledang (Mount Ophir) located in Johor border with Melacca state, it is the highest mountain in Johor State with 1276 meter a.s.l. Along the way there is ropes and ladders to assist with total trip distance of 5.8 KM.  




Total 8 checkpoints (CP)

08:46 – 09:04  CP1 (Bukit Semput) – mostly concrete steps
09:04 – 09:20  CP 2 (Hentain Meranti)
09:20 – 09:41  CP 3 (Batu Orkid)
10:03 – 11:07  CP 5 (Sungai Segi Tiga) – We skipped CP 4 as it used by campers who stay overnight
11:28 – 12:09  CP 6 (Gua Kambaing)
12:09 – 12:58 Batu Hampar (KFC = Killer For Climbers)
12:58 – 13:09 Taman Bonsai (Bonzai Trees)
13:09 – 13:40  Bukit Botak (Botak Hill)
13:40 – 14:10  Gunung Ledang Summit

14:40 – 17:00  Junction between CP3 and CP5
17:10 – 17:30  CP 3 (Batu Orkid)
17:30 – 18:00  CP 2(Hentain Meranti)
18:00 – 18:24  CP 1 (Bukit Semput)
18:24 – 18:45  Car Park

  2. I saw that there's a road leading up to the communication tower. Is it free to get up there without being charge by guide?
