Exploring Gunung Berembun Jelebu

January, 19 2014

Gunung Berembun with the height of 1014 meter located in Kampung Pantai Baharu - Negeri Sembilan. Many people confuse with the name of "Gunung Berembun" as there are  three different mountains with the same name located in near Jelebu (Negeri Sembilan), Cameron Highlands (Pahang) and Dungun (Terengganu).

I come across on this mountain was due to my last trip to RAF B-24 Liberator (KL654R) aircraft crashed area via Gunung Telapak Buruk trail on October 2013.  There are two trail heads could lead you to the Gunung Berembun summit, you could either continue with an hour from the aircraft crashed area via Gunung Telapak Buruk trail (Total duration : 2 hours 30 minutes from Gunung Telapak Buruk trail head) or start from Loji Air Rawatan Pantai Trail Head (Total duration of 3 hours 05 minutes).

From Gunung Berembun Summit to RAF B-24 Liberator (KL654R) aircraft crashed area would require 45 minutes to 1 hour (Few of them continue the journey on this trip to explore the RAF B-24) which means you could do a Trans Gunung Berembun or Trans Gunung Telapak Buruk from Gunung Telapak Buruk to Loji Air Rawatan Pantai (mostly descent) or reserve (mostly ascent) with the duration of 5~6 hours.

This round we decided to explore the Loji Air Pantai trail to Gunung Berembun and RAF B24 crashed area.

Stage 1 : Start from Loji Air Rawatan Pantai left hand side, with 1~2 minutes walk there is a small path on your right (with ribbon marker). You would passed by two streams before you reach to the camp site (beside river) and waterfall.

Stage 2 : Cross the river continue with approx 1 hour 30 minutes to Gua Kambing. A long the way you would cross few streams. (Look for ribbon marker all the way)

Stage 3: Follow the path on the left (if you are facing the Gua Kambing), you might need to change to low gear from here onwards. All the way ascent to the top across few peaks and finally will lead you to an open area with a view on your right. Summit just nearby follow the left hand side path.

Can i ask for your help on the trailhead- do you mean that once on it, we take a right after 1-2 minutes?

Is the trail clear all the way to the top?

Do you have any advice for us?

Thank you & would appreciate your advice.

    1. Hi, I am using "GPS hiker" on IOS devices and lately I use "My Tracks" on my android device. Best part on both apps are:-

      1. You could turn off mobile data for capturing GPS location (ensure your device come with GPS feature), this could save your battery power
      2. Import and upload GPS trail, you could monitor the trail information, POI etc
      3. Check you current GPS position (Valid GPS) on the imported trail, you could know exactly where you are.
      4. Log your trail

Hopes this answer your question, do enjoy hiking

    4. For gunung angsi do they tie colour tapes on the trees like gunung datuk?

    5. You can view your current location and log the trail from the apps while hiking....

For Gunung Angsi, there are makers and signboard lead you to the peak a long the way.

  6. Hi mcHiker

Was wondering if the campsite is any good? Would it be advisable to camp overnight there? We should be going in groups of about 10 people :)

    1. Hi Steven,

There are actually 3 campsite area you could select:-

      1. Camp before waterfall - a small campsite could allocate 3~4 tents with water source
      2. Gua Kambing - Flat area inside Gua Kambaing (Refer to the picture), with water source
      3. Berembun Summit - Big campsite but no water source, You got to carry water from Gua Kambing all the way up to Summit (estimate 45 minutes to 1 hour journey)

In fact, day trip would be easy if you are just planning to do G. Berembun and/or visit the B24 crash are a. Doing 2D1N would be a relax trip.

Hope my information helpful. Enjoy your trip!

I wouldn't know whats wring with my PC browser unable to reply the comments you stated earlier but via mobile version I could reply.

You have commented that different distances shown in 2014 and 2015 trail profile.

the actual distance to Berembun summit is approx 5.3KM, too many abnormal points captured from starting point to Gua kambing during my 2015 trip and cause it captured longer distance.

    Thanks for the clarification.
